how to rebuild a rear diff

im looking to rebuild my 9 bolt but would like to learn how to do it myself I am quite familiar with it somewhat im looking at installing 3.70's as well but was wondering what kind of parts do I need for the rebuild do I just need a new ring and pinion or is there a lot more involved ????? ive pulled whole carriers out before but never installed them or rebuilt them that was always for the more experienced mechanic's in the shops.

Search search. Loads of threads on this including all the parts you'll need. There is a really detailed document on-line somewhere with pictures and instructions. Takes a lot of reading and care to get it right if you haven't done it before. Getting the gear pattern is critical. Have fun.

Re: how to rebuild a rear diff

found these for the shim in between cone an spider gear. 62mm= 2.44094 in. close enough for me. if you are going to tackle that part.
