V6 t5 question
I know the input shafts and ratios are different. I have a 91 305 with a t5 and looking at an 86 2.8 t5. Is it to much to convert or even worth it ?

Re: V6 t5 question
Depends on what part(s) are bad in which one(s), and why you would consider this "convert" in the first place.
Give us the back story and maybe we can help you evaluate the idea rationally.

Re: V6 t5 question
I came across this v6 trans for a good deal. I'd like to rebuild it to replace mine or temporary use while i rebuild mine. I've got close to 200k miles and my trans is having some slight issues. I was planning on a rebuild

Re: V6 t5 question
Well I just came from that swap in mine. I bought my 91 305 camaro about 1 1/2 years ago and the previous owner had a pre 88 V6 T5 transmission installed in it.
I finally found an 89 V8 T5 to replace the V6 transmission.
When it comes to installing the V6 T5 in your v8, its very simple.
To install the V6 T5, on your 305, you will need your V8 bellhousing, V8 clutch fork, V8 flywheel, and V8 pressure plate (You should have all these on the car already.)
The only different thing you need is a V6 clutch disk. The V6 T5 has a 14 spline input shaft, so you need a 14 spline clutch disk to fit between the pressure plate and flywheel. Otherwise everything else stays the same.
As for rebuild it to replace yours, I would probably advise against that. If the V6 tranny works fine, you could put that in your car while your get your V8 tranny rebuilt. The gear ratios on the V6 transmission are very inconvenient to drive with. First gear has tons of torque, but you have to shift extremely early. In my opinion, it's too low of a gear to start with, but second is too high, making it very annoying to drive with.
As for what sofakingdom said, it really does depend on what's bad in your original T5 when it comes to rebuilding it. I'm no expert on the internals, but if certain things are wrong in it, it may not be worth the trouble rebuilding. However, if its worn syncros or something, you'd probably be fine.
Anyways to answer your original question, the only thing you need to put that V6 T5 in your car currently is a V6 Clutch disk. Everything else you keep the same.
