T56 swap master cylinder leak

Had my t56 swap on my car for about 3 years now. Recently got it out of storage and now my master cylinder is leaking fluid into the interior, looks like where the seal of the cylinder is with the rod. Is it common for this to happen on the master cylinders with the swap since the angle of the rod is so sharp with the cylinder? I've only driven about 6000 miles since I've done the swap and the cylinder was brand new when installed, so it seems pretty premature for a failure on it already.

Re: T56 swap master cylinder leak

The rod angle should be fairly straight to the cylinder, which is at a steep angle to the firewall. If your cylinder is not pretty much inline with the rod, then you have mismatched parts, and that would definitely cause early cylinder failure.

Re: T56 swap master cylinder leak

The piston is sealed with o-rings.

The piston is depressed by the rod, which is a ball at the end.

You have to have a pretty bad angle for it to be the reason for failure.

O-rings are cheap. Inspect it when it's out; maybe you'll find a nick in the bore or the piston, or a torn o-ring.

It's setup like the t56 swap thread so it's not that out of line. I'll check the o rings once it gets warmer out
