Hi guys, I have a question for the T-56 swaps owners. My 84 came with a working T-56, but the shifter is extremely far to the right. Its almost against the center counsel is 5/6th and I had to hit the side of it for reverse. I seen where online170 said it needed to be cut further back to get it in, but not left to right. Is this a common problem and are there any solutios?
Depends on the shifter.
The stub in the aftermarket Hurst was straight.
Nearly identical, the one in the OEM/SLP installed Hurst was bent towards the driver.
Pics of what you have will help determine solutions.
My Pro 5.0 shifter is obviously angled towards the driver's side. The actual stick itself is machined at an angle where the stub is vertical. Probably just depends on what shifter you have.
I ran a Lous Short Stick and stock shifter base on my last car and it was perfect.
Get us a picture of the shifter youre using as well as where it sits when the trans is in 1st, 2nd, 6th and reverse.
