How much fluid does it take to prime a new converter?

How much fluid does it take to prime a new converter?

I think the 700R-4 takes like 10.5 qts of ATF, right? So I guess the converter is going to take about 5-6 qts?

a good rule of thumb is to put just enough fluid in that it will barely not spillout during the install. it will prime itself the rest of the way as soon as th epump starts turning.

You may be able to get @one quart into it, a little at a time. When starting the vehicle, first put 5-6 quarts in the tranny too. Add enough to bring it to the ADD mark right away once it is running.
