ok so my transmission is going out and my father in law has an 84 vette im going to take the trans from it because its the same 700r4, but my question is will it be hard to take the rear axle from it too and put it on my 84 camaro, because mine is the old drum and i know the vette is pads

 

Takes quite a bit of cutting and welding
The 84 700r4 is the weaker early model

You are comparing an independent rear to a solid axle. Go look under the vette and then under your car and you will see.

 

Huge amount of work to put the Vette rear under a Camaro. Lots of fabrication work and you wouldn't gain much for the effort.

 

Correct me if I'm wrong guys, but the Vette transmission won't have provisions for a torque arm mount, will it?

 

it wont, but he can easily swap the tail shaft housings off his old trans and put it on the new 700r4 in 2 seconds.

No. Nothing interchanges between the vette rear and yours.

Yukon makes a Dura Grip that will fit in your Camaro rear end. It's the cheapest but good quality differential for the 7.5 10 bolt. You must know what your gear ratio is before you buy one.
