Transmission stays in 2nd too long
Transmission stays in 2nd too long
I don't know if this is a common problem or not.....I have an '87 Camaro Coupe with the 2.8 v-6, automatic transmission. No matter what speed I drive at, whenever I put the gas pedal to the floor, the engine redlines and it sounds as if it is slipping, acceleration is very slow. The friend I bought the car from says it gets stuck in 2nd gear when accelerating hard, and has always done that. His brother has an '87 Blazer with the same engine/tranny, he says it does the same thing. The only way I can get the car to accelerate is to keep the throttle about 1/2 way to the floor and baby it. Is this a common problem and is there any solution?

Welcome aboard,
Look at similar posts about this and follow transfixleo's method of adjusting your TV cable, this might solve your problem. It controls line pressure for your tranny to shift properly.
