ISO Help on 700r4 rebuild

Planning out to rebuild my 700r4 for a street/strip use. Possibly doing some work to my engine this winter, resulting around 350 fwhp. Was looking at some of the rebuilt kits on summit, specifically the TCI ones, and was wondering if it would be beneficial to get a rebuild kit from TCI and a shift kit from Transgo (heard a lot of good things about that), or just get the TCI kit that has the shift kit included in it. Also, looking to get a new lockup style torque converter, any good suggestions on these? I don't really do a lot of formal drag racing, just track cruising and occasional street racing. Also heard I should get a standalone oil cooler for trans, any suggestions here? Planning on getting a new heat treated sunshell as well.

Look into Sonnax parts. They make really nice stuff.

3000 stall, non locking converter on mine. Love it.

Re: ISO Help on 700r4 rebuild

Did some looking around. Can anyone tell me if this would be a good combination of parts?
Rebuild kit: https://www.summitracing.com/parts/tci-378900
Sunshell: http://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo....jsn=__GIX__3__
Oil Cooler: http://www.makcotransmissionparts.com/4451.html
And can anyone recommend a torque converter, really not sure where I should go there. Running a stock cam right now, only work done is cold air intake, full exhaust, and will probably be doing some intake plenum porting coming up here soon.

Re: ISO Help on 700r4 rebuild

Avoid mixing parts from different manufacturers.
Everyone needs to save a buck, but you will probably find that it may cost many times more in incompatibility issues than what you might save up front.
GD is correct - Sonnax.

Re: ISO Help on 700r4 rebuild

Are you doing the rebuild yourself, or having someone do it? What are your goals for the motor? Stock, mild, or high performance? There are quality kits for high performance, but if your staying basically stock, you don't need a high dollar kit or parts. A stock 700r4 will handle 400hp easy. If your going to rebuild it yourself, watch this video, it's for a 4l60e transmission, but the guts are basically the same. This is one of the best and thorough "free" video's I have ever seen. http://transmissionbench.com/index.html

Call Dana at Pro-Built Automatics. He will have everything you need and can answer any question before, during, and after your rebuild. I bought his street/strip kit and stall converter from him. I'm horrible at auto transmissions and he really helped a lot.

True statement, Dana is very helpful and knowledgeable. I also went through Dana for my kit.
