Engine: 334 SBC - stroked 305 M4ME Q-Jet
Transmission: upgraded 700R4 3200 stall
Axle/Gears: 10bolt 4.10 Posi w Lakewood TA Bars
Where the heck is this supposed to fit?

It is supposed to fit the secondary transmission crossmember.
My car is an 84 TA with 700R4.

Not just T5s... Plenty of the goofy double-decker crossmembers on V6s and early cars too. There's yet another oddball crossmember used on some T5 cars with a unique liquid filled mount.
Best solution to all the oddball crossmembers is to swap in the one piece style.

This is off of my 83 L69/T-5 car... ignore the 2 extra slots, I cut those so I could put in a 2-bolt-up mount instead of the crappier 1-stud-down style.

OH, I see. The 2-piece design gives a little more cushioning to the tailshaft of the transmission. I guess it is a good idea for manual transmissions.

Both of my 84 camaros (1 was a factory auto an the other was a factory 5-speed)had the 2 piece x-member, the first time I saw the 1 piece was at a salvage yard
