3-4 pack clearance
When the stack is complete, where is the exact spot to measure total clearance? From the videos I've seen it looks like it's being measured between the last friction put in and the top plate that sits under the snap ring? Also, I'm at .065 in that spot right now, and all spins freely but just seems a bit to much play up and down.
I'm thinking, if that is the correct way to measure that I'm doing it, about getting the clearance to around .040
Any advice would be great!!!
Thank you.

Re: 3-4 pack clearance
When checking clutch clearance, do it between the snap ring and pressure plate. When using the Corvette servo, set the 3-4 clutch clearance at .035" - .055". You can change a steel here for a thicker one if needed to get the required clearance. Set the band clearance at the minimum if you can.

Re: 3-4 pack clearance
One more thing I forgot to ask is that my ‘87 700r4 didn’t come with the 3-4 boost springs installed as I believe they were added In later years, yet my rebuild kit did. Should I put them in or leave them out? I see people using both ways and the ATSG says to leave them out.
Re: 3-4 pack clearance
If you are using the original clutch count and pressure plates, use the boost springs. Make sure the 2-3 feed hole on the separator plate is a minimum of .093" or .110" is much better. Main boost valve should be .471", and the intermediate/reverse boost valve .282" at a minimum. 2nd gear feed .076" - .082". 4th gear feed .110" - .125". Flip 4th accumulator piston and spring over to get a better 4th gear shift.

Re: 3-4 pack clearance
What rpm is this going to see at WOT? If you are not going to use the boost springs, then add the TransGo 7-CS and install all of the springs, do not leave any out. This is the way I have done it since 1994 and have never had a problem with clutch life.
