Hedman LT's and T56 clearance, not the usual, I have Clearance with pics to prove.

Here it is, motor with Trick flow heads and my T56 out of a 95. Motor and trans are bolted tightly together, heads have no gaskets, no head or header gaskets, but are bolted down with 2 bolts. headers are bolted tightly to heads...

The closest spot is where the ball flanges meet, but I can stick my finger between with a little room to spare

Other closest thing is the very rear of the slave cylinder, but then again, i dont know the exact placement of the s extension either so i could gain clearnace here because i think i have them too far inward.

I have around 1/4 clearance the way it is now.

Need some more pics, feel free to ask, i have a few more now, but if its something i dont have Ill get it for ya.

Looks like you could put a spark plug 90* boot heat sleeve on the back of your slave to keep the heat down? Maybe a little heat reflective tape on the slave too just to be safe.

thats exactly what I was thinking.

I just wanted to post these pics for the people, who wanted to know if it would fit. Now I dont know if the heads have anything do do with this.

I have a set of LT1 heads i could sit on there and test too, I may have a set of older heads i could try.

I don't see much if any coating (ceramic) so that area is going to get HOT. Not too mention that 90deg. fitting is brass and will be a heat sink for the radiatting heat from that area. I'm going to guess and say that clearance is approx 1" or less. I'd wrap then entire slave cylinder with a heat blanket (whatever you call em') like summit sells for starters to be wrapped in. Use some of those metal zip strips and you'd be safe. I'd hate to see you post in the future that you didn't wrap anything and the heat boiled the fluid in your braided hose going to your slave cylinder.

Oh trust me Im gonna wrap the entire slave with something. And the headers, I still have to put the motor in, make a crossmember for the t56, make my exhaust and then I can fire the motor get it running. Then what i was gonna do is send the headers and the y pipe for coating.

That looks about right.. I am guessing those are s-extensions? I had an exhaust shop run my piping and it goes straight back where yours bends close. FWIW I have had no trouble with the slave at all.. I do plan on some heat sleeve but with airflow and the like you won't have any trouble..

I just took some pics of my ground clearance and posted it in this thread for FYI.. that is with a drews xmember and pro-kit.

https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/ltx-...rs-needed.html

make darn sure while the engine is out that you trim the drivers a-arm mount for clearance.

they are not the d port versions, although i found header gaskets that fit the heads and then checked them on the headers and they fit fine with no blockage. Now i dont know if Trickflow d ports are different than LT1s'

Also I ended doing true duals instead of a y pipe, I used medium length powersticks from classic chambered 3" dumped under axle for now

The car is fully together now, here is a soundclip

http://videos.streetfire.net/video/7...d500ad90a5.htm

Ill was gonna get some drive by clips and some cleance pics with full weight on the car. The car has Eibach pro-kit springs, and I have yet scraped the exhaust.

FWIW, I'm running the same headers and a t56 with drews xmember and have similar clearance issues. I originally wrapped my slave in some header wrap with metal zip ties. Had to do a clutch job on the car and only had regular zip ties, used those and they haven't shown any signs of melting/overheating.

I realize this is an old topic but just thought I'd toss my .02 in there.
