First post here, and new to the third gen world in general. Learning a ton from these boards


Some background:

I picked up an 82 Trans Am that was made into a pretty competitive homebuilt auto xer. It came with no interior, subframe connectors, stiff suspension, roll bar, mild Lunati cam, holley carb, weiand intake, headers, borg warner posi rear end w/discs, brake bias adjuster, etc.. Lots of cool stuff on this thing. Currently working towards doing a Lemons with it.


Posting here because there's one thing I cant figure out: it has the factory Borg Warner Super T10 (4 speed manual) on which the previous owner did a reverse blockoff of some kind. I cant find any info about how this might be done, and therefore un-done, on these. I assume its in the linkage because the shift lever physically wont move in that direction (towards the driver). Shifter has a nice short throw, but it doesnt appear to be aftermarket.


It may be wise to leave it as-is and grow some reverse muscles, but if there's a known way this is done on ST10s it'd help to know what to look for.

 

The easiest way would be to modify the shifter. Drop the shifter down a take a look at it. Will find something as there are several ways to do what the builder did.
