TKO kit problem
My daughter brought me her 1967 Camaro and UPS brought me 5 boxes of parts to change from automatic to TKO 5-speed manual. The vendor says I need 1/8 to 3/8 inch axial clearance before the hydraulic clutch release bottoms out. I have virtually no clearance. The vendor literature suggests a thinner flywheel, thinner pressure plate, or they offer a 1/4 inch plate to put between the bellhousing and transmission. The plate will reduce the active length of engagement of the transmission pilot to 3/8 inch. I can get longer bolts to handle the reduced active thread length without a problem, but a little miffed that I have to compromise with this being an entire "kit". I can probably get their 1/4 inch plate and have it surface ground to 3/16 to get some engagement back. Is it reasonable to take 3/16 off of the flywheel?
Any suggestions, or am I worrying about nothing?
Thanks for any response.

Re: TKO kit problem
I'm sure you meant 87 Camaro, right? Not 67? Because this forum is 82-92 and some people take that pretty seriously. I'm sure you meant 87.
So are you up and running yet? During MY TKO swap, I had an issue with the throwout bearing not traveling far enough to fully disengage the pressure plate, even with the pedal fully depressed. If I'm hearing you right, sounds like you have the opposite? ...my solution was an adjustable fork pivot. My lakewood bellhousing came with a fixed pivot. $20 bucks later all was fixed. Swapped the pivot with the bell and trans still on the car. Yeah....you heard right, think THAT through!
