TREMEC 5 speed

Would a tremec 5 speed be a direct replacement for a car with a T5 92 RS 305

Also i heard alot of bad things about T5's Iwant to swap one into my car wich is only a 305 and is stock and will stay stock. Will the T5 last as long as i don't beat on it.

The Tremec has a 3550 and the TKO trannies. The TKO is rated at 550 ft/lbs! The 3550 is rated at about a hundred pounds less.Either would be a great replacement for your T5.I plan on getting a TKO in the spring.
I've blown up my T5 once, and that was with the stock 305.Admittedly, I abused it,but the weak torque rating (295 for WC T5) is a bad sign.
They'll hold up if you don't bang gears or treat it too rough, but If you want to race it at all, you'll be way better off with the Tremec.
They now offer both Tremecs for GM bolt-in applications. The 3550 is about $1400,TKO about $1700.
A couple guys on this site have reported that they're real happy with them and they have 400hp+
motors.
Richmond's have a good reputation as well, but I believe they require a little more fabrication to install.
