700r4 No Shift At WOT

Hello everyone,

I found many topics etc. about 700r4 not shifting into next gear at WOT. But nobody really got a solution...

In the winter break I installed the SLP intake runners, therefore I disassembled the brackets for the TV cable etc. but I did NOT change the length etc. After I installed the runners, I just bolted the brackets and connected the cables with the throttle body.
At normal speed and normal throttle the car shifts like nothing changed (so it shiftet strong and good). But after a few days I wanted to know how it performs at WOT. I first couldn't believe what happened: At WOT after ~4500 RPMs it felt like the car went into neutral! When I stayed on the gas the car reved like in neutral into redline without giving power to the wheels. When I got of the pedal, the car shifted strangely (not firm) into the next gear. This problem occures on every WOT gearchange! Besides that, the car feels like a beast with much torque.
Before the winter, so last season with the stock runners the tranny shiftet firm and good, also at WOT it shiftet without problem.

At the moment I am trying to adjust the TV cable and believe in the wonder that this helps me. The funny thing is, that I absolutely changed NOTHING than the runners, and now it doesnt work anymore.
Can falsely connected vacuum lines bring up this problem? Because I am not 100% sure that the vacuum lines (the smallest ones) are connected correctly.

I hope you can help me.

(I got 700r4, l98 engine, hooker headers, SLP catback lm 2, SLP intake runners)

The 700r4 does not use vacuum.
If what you are describing is occurring on the 2-3 shift, it is classic 3-4 clutchpack failure.

At normal driving it shifts firm and good. But at WOT there is NO upshift, at every gearchange, 1-2 2-3

Make sure the TV cable is "tight" at WOT. This is a must. See what happens.

Pro-Built, doesn't the TV cable slip if its too short and automatically self-lengthens?

Re: 700r4 No Shift At WOT

I solved the problem:

1. No upshift at WOT: Problem was, that the transmission oil filter was loose and just swam in the oil. After I reinstalled the filter, upsift was possible under WOT.
2. General bad shifting: Like said, I pulled the TV cable full away from the throttlebody, then opened the throttle wide open, TV cable adjusted itself. Problem solved.

Thank you for your help

Even when you use the "automatic" adjustment, YOU must check to see if the TV cable is tight at WOT. Many times it is not!
