Will a Cd009 trans fit in a 5.3ls swapped iroc z ?
Hey any help appreciated I have heard a ton of people talk about matting a cd099 trans to ls motors in s13 and I was wondering if it will fit in my 5.3 swapped iroc I was thinking about the t56 but it’s so damn expensive and I know the cd is a cheaper alternative but I haven’t seen a thread about it at all so do you guys think it will work again any help appreciated !!!! Hopefully we can figure something out! Thanks guys!

Do it! It'd like to see it.
However, even with the trans being cheaper, the adapter plate and clutch setup is going to bring it back up to the cost of a t56...

Do you think it will work will it will bolt up and fit with the stock shifter location I don’t see why it wouldn’t work

You can make anything fit. There won't be any single thing better about it, except lighter weight.
The gear ratios are the most important factor when you become the Magellan of uncharted swap waters, just outside of eyeshot of those who have already asked the exact same question.

Direct bolt in? No. Google pics of both the original trans. for your car and the CD009.
You would need to figure out speedometer cable drive for an 87.
Crossmember to hold the trans.
Torque arm relocation
Driveshaft
Clutch disc hub splines (read: custom disc.)
Adapter for bellhousing fitment.
And you'd still have the ratios of the CD009:

And you'd still have the ratios of the CD009:
3.79
If you build a little Excel worksheet, set up the overall ratio in each gear with a 3.42 rear, then for other rear ratios. Then do the same for the T56 you were looking at, you'll have a good idea of whether a particular swap is worth it.
The percentage drop between gears, and the overall spread of ratios, and how well matched the trans is to your vehicle's rear gear are very important.
You won't have accomplished anything better by having a CD009 in a third gen except "It can be done." In other words, there's no technical advantage to it. Not better ratios. Not strength. Not anything but lighter weight. Save up, get a Magnum, enjoy your car year-round, buy an off the shelf clutch instead of a hybrid that costs more, and enjoy your car some more.
