I’m currently swapping a 350/700r4 into a 1985 305 sport coupe. I went to go and connect the Speedo cable and there’s a black rubbing piece on the cable that is preventing me from threading it on. Any help or advice is greatly appreciated, thank you.

 

Unscrew the broken plastic speedometer sender from your cable.

 

Zackly: the knurled piece is what threads onto the part in the transmission; the black piece is broken off from whatever that cable used to be hooked to.
