Babbitt vs bronze bushings
Does anyone have a preference over Babbitt vs bronze bushings. In a another thread I mentioned that durabond bushings is what I already used. I already pressed in most of my bushings and the Durabond seems like a Babbitt type by the silver color
Re: Babbitt vs bronze bushings
GM started using more babbitt bushings in the later 4L60E's. As the oil has been improving a lot of the last 20 years or more, it seems that the babbitt bushings are doing okay. When I tore down a 2013 (the last year of the 4L60E's). They were all babbitt and Teflon bushings. I still prefer using bronze, as most people do not use the better oils. If you use the Dexron VI type, then you should be okay using them. Some bushings are no longer available in bronze. The input sun gear is one that the bronze type are no longer available.
