So I recently got a 1986 firebird trans am. It has a 305 with the TPI. It sat in a junk yard for 20 years without the rear window so Ive got a lot of work to do. Currently Im working on getting it all in one piece. Theres no transmission in it currently, it had a automatic factory. I believe it was a 700r4. What trans will work with it? I don?t know if a 700r4 from a carbureted engine will work, or do I have to find one with a tpi?
