1st post... rear axle help
Hello everybody
First time here... was recommended from a guy on FbodyConnection to ask this board, so, you got a new member
.Trying to build an 87 Camaro with a "built" 412 Pontiac engine. I am stuck on the rear axle assy. Dont really want to spend the 2K + for the Moser's, etc. Need help on figureing out what to use for a 430+ hp Car. Heard the rear axle is the weak link in the car. Any help would be great! Know very little about rear ends. (On cars anyway...hehe)
Thanks a lot
Bob

With 430+ hp you really are going to need a ford 9 inch or 12 bolt Chevy rear end. If you totally rebuilt the stock 10 bolt with very strong parts you probably still going to break something with slicks.

Have the axle tubes welded to the pumpkin, run a girdle(T/A cover),swap out the crush sleeve for a solid pinion spacer, and pray. That is exactly what I have done and been doing in my Z.
