TH200c To LQ4 + 4l60e

Because I can't find any useful info on this swap, I'm going to make a thread. I have an 82 bird that I'm swapping an lq4 and 4l60e into, using Holley terminator Xmax with trans control. It is a 2002 4l60 from a 1500. The original transmission is the th200c so I know I'm gonna need a different driveshaft. I am just curious about mounts, shifter, shifter cable, and bracket. I know the 4l60e has an extra gear so I think I have to find a shifter from a 700r4 car? I just don't know if those shifters have the correct detents for each gear. I don't know if anyone has done this swap and can share what they used for a cross-member and shifter/shifter cable because I also can't find much info on the shifter cables. I'd like to update this post with pictures and info as I go so there is info for future people doing this swap. If I left out any info just let me know, any advice or part numbers that can help me is greatly appreciated, thank you.

Re: TH200c To LQ4 + 4l60e

The transmission cable will swap over and bolt up to pan bolts, i just filed another notch in the shifter assembly so I could get 1st gear. I didnt file it even with 2nd gear kinda made a step so you have to press shifter button to get 1st gear. You will see what I'm talking about when you get it apart and its real easy to do. You cant just swap over a newer style shifter mount btw because later years use a different lockout system to lock it in park when key is off. I used a hawks transmission crossmember but had to do alot of clearance grinding and adding some angle iron to beef it up some.

Re: TH200c To LQ4 + 4l60e

Just a warning...

Some of the LQ4 Engines were produced with a thicker Crankshaft flange for the Flex-Plate (compared to the other Gen-III/ Gen-IV Engines).
If your Engine has the thick Crankshaft flange, it will not fit together with 4L60E Transmissions...
and will require a custom Torque-Converter!

The image below shows the two different size Crankshaft Flanges:

Re: TH200c To LQ4 + 4l60e

Several of the Companies that produce Performance Suspension parts for our Third-Gen F-Bodies offer conversion Engine-Mounts and Transmission Cross-members to install a Gen-III/ Gen-IV SBC with a LS style 4L60E.

BMR, UMI, and Spohn all offer parts to accomplish this swap...
NOTE: when you are obtaining a Transmission Cross-Member; you need to specify a "LS style" Cross-Member, and NOT a "LT style" Cross-Member.

Good luck and have fun!
