700R4 Rebuild Required?

I was driving around this past Sunday to break in my new engine when the car started smoking horribly. I pulled over and realized it was dumping ATF out of the front of the transmission. I hopped right back in and drove it as easily as possible to a place where I could pull over and have it towed, at which point it had just started to slip due to running low on fluid. I had it towed to the transmission shop that rebuilt it 10 years ago to have them take a look at it for me and assess the damage.

The car has only been driven about 100 miles in that time period so am I wrong to assume that it should be okay internally as long as there isn’t too much clutch material in the pan?

Edit: I should add, the transmission shop is backed up a couple weeks so I’m just thinking out loud while I wait for them to get a chance to look at it.

Hope it's just a front pump seal or loose trans line.

We’ll after almost two months of waiting due to the crazy long backlog at the shop, it turns out the front pump has some damage and needs to be replaced. It also put a slight ridge in the hub on the torque converter so I’m sending that back to Edge to be cleaned up and checked out.
