Screw in studs
This is geared towards those with an aftermarket rear end. So I've got a set of Strange axles with my MWC 9" and it's got 1/2" screw in studs. I have ls1 rear brakes and if I was to assemble it with backing plates and press bearings and wedding rings there's not enough room to physically get the wheel studs in there. How are you guys getting the studs torqued up?? Is a axle squashed with wood in a vise good enough or is there another way??

Re: Screw in studs
With my 12-bolt I partially threaded in the studs with axle on the bench. I left enough thread exposed to apply Loctite later.
Then slid the axle into place so the splines back-hold the axle shaft from twisting. Applied Loctite and torqued each stud one at a time. Had to use a claw foot on a torque wrench.
Be sure to adjust torque for the length of the claw foot. I think mine was 3/4" extra length center to center, https://www.engineersedge.com/manufa...e_wrench_1.htm
Get a damn good claw foot that won't slip or you'll end up rounding the bolt head and be totally screwed.
