How hard is it to swap over the 700r4 to a t5? 3rd gen getting harder to find good ones. Other than the parts. What has got to be done to get the body ready

Only things different about the body are the shifter hole, and the clutch master cyl hole. The console top is different in the Camaro; not sure about Firebirds, kinda seems like there's more to the console in those, and it varies from year to year.
You need the WHOLE pedal assy including the 2 little bracing brackets, the hydraulics, bell hsg, flywheel, pilot bearing/bushing, clutch, throwout, shifter, "lower boot", and ... a transmission. Good luck with that. They're getting REAL scarce. Especially the 2nd design (you don't want a 1st design), and ESPECIALLY the better V8 version with the .73 5th.
As far as "hard", probably no harder than brain surgery is to a brain surgeon. OTOH I doubt you want ME inside your skull with a scalpel.
Your call on that.
