Hello everyone,
I am rebuilding my Dana 60 and setting up a new ring and pinion. Is this pattern acceptable? Let me know what you think.
Pinion preload used bearings for setup .019
No shims under pinion cup(from factory)
backlash is .010

 

Are these 2 or 5 angle cut gears?

I ended up adding .008 pinion cup shim and brought the backlash down to .009
Looks as good as it can i suppose.

That's what I thought by your pics showing the rotated pattern. Looks like you're close on the drive side, I would check this pattern with the backlash on the tight side (0.005). Put pressure on the ring gear while turning the set for best readable pattern as possible.

 

You are definitely in the ballpark. Only fine tuning left going for perfection at this point. Good job!
