700r4 3-4 Backing Plate Question

Hi all, goodmorning! I was hoping somone could answer this question please.

Picture attached, old backing plate left. New on right.

Q1. The new backing plate is a full thickness the old is beveled on the inside edge. Is it ok to replace with full apply plate thats stepped like this?

Thickness wise it's good. It will give me .035" with old plate or .032" with the new one for 3-4 clearance.

i appreacite any info. These small details will drive me nutts. Lol. I never want to pull this trans out again. Haha. Thanks !
