700r4 pressure switch

Can someone help me identify this?
I’m new to these cars and this looks aftermarket, but I’m not sure what it’s for. The power wire runs to the dash somewhere but I’m not sure what gauge would need a switch to the trans.

Re: 700r4 pressure switch

Yes, most likely it is a switch used for Torque Converter Clutch Lock-Up.

That kit references transmissions with a 4th gear pressure port. Can I take it that's where that switch is plumbed into, there below that....accumulator???

Just want to learn how to I.D. a 700R4 with and without that port, for future reference.

Re: 700r4 pressure switch

The earlier cases had 3 Ports on that side of the Case with the 2-4 Servo Cover.
-2nd Pressure.
-3rd Pressure.
-4th Pressure.

Later cases did away with these test Ports (just leaving the Line Pressure Port remaining on the opposite side of the Case).
The 4th Pressure Switch can go directly on the Valve-Body... no need to do this externally.

Often these Switches are just little Leak Points when used externally.
