Guys/Gals I'm building my spare T5 trans to a 0.73 OD and looking for a Chev T5 WC 5th gear (55 Tooth) 1352-080-052. I have the 31 tooth. I may be wrong but a ford fifth gear is compatible also. With all the hills around here the .63 OD is just not working for me. I have 92 Vert with a 5.0 Engine and I spend more time in forth it seems like!! Shipping to Newfoundland Canada A2A 1W5. Thanks. Payment by Paypal peferred.

If you find a WC Ford 31/55 set, the countershaft gear will work as long as you've got the GM 27 spline 31t mainshaft gear.
3.73 and 0.63 is super close to 3.23 and 0.73. Food for thought. I imagine you've mulled this over plenty.

Some chevy T5s had the .73 other had the .63 usually higher end models like the L69 had the .73. That being said I swapped my .73 to .63 for highway driving and love the reduced RPM

On the highways up here in Newfoundland the speed limit is only 60mph and with the hilly terrain the .63 is super boogy. In the US on the interstates doing 70+ the .63 would be perfect. I have a 3.23 rear. If you know someone with the WC 55 tooth gear let them know I'm looking. Not many thirdgen spare parts available on this remote island in the Atlantic LOL. Thanks for the reply.Originally Posted by midias

I screwed up and put the low-perf grocery-cart (LG4 & L03) .63 in my car once, some on of the dozen or 15 times I tore up my T-5 and got another core to rebuild, and HATED IT. I actually took the trans back out after acoupla days, less than a week if memory serves, and put the right one back in, because it was SO BAD. Felt like it needed a 4½th gear or something. My car is a 83 L69 Z28 (3.73 rear) BTW.
I would take a 41/2 right now!!. I can find a 53 tooth but not a 55. Almost tempted to get the 53 and install it with the 31 tooth and see how it turns out . Any improvement to get closer to a .73 fifth is better than nothing and cursing at every hill!

Won't work.Almost tempted to get the 53 and install it with the 31 tooth
For coplanar gears, the "ratio" is not only the "ratio" of the tooth count, but also, the "ratio" of their DIAMETERS.
Meaning, they won't mesh.

Good advice!! Learned something again today so a great day! Thanks
