need some info......
I keep reading that if you want to bolt a 700r4 up to a pre 78 block(csb) you need to change the flex plate.....Well I put my 700r4 up to a 1967 327 block....it previously had a th350....I dont know if the flex plate was ever changed....everything seems to work just fine. this spring I am putting in a newly rebuilt 700r4 . The one I have now is dieing slow....I guess my question is..if I have the wrong flexplate ...would the tranny still bolt up and function??? What should I look for when putting in the new tranny as far as the flexplate goes...any info would be greatly appreciated....
It seems like some original equipment flexplates had a
bigger bolt pattern than a modern converter would bolt
to. Most flexplates I have seen come with two bolt
patterns, and I suspect yours is one of those. If it good,
there is probably no need to change it, but they can be
bought new for as little as $20.00 at :
