Re: T5
It won't work w a v8. It has a 14 spline input/clutch gear. It's also lighter duty. I got one years ago for free and was all psyched and then looked at the spline shaft, then was less psyched. The one I got was out of an 84. Yours may be different. The ones out of the newer ones may be different.

No. Not by itself. You'd need the V8 countergear also.
IOW, you'd need a V8 transmission, to take apart and put those parts into the other one. Kinda makes a changeover moot, unless you have something like, a V8 trans with a busted case or mainshaft or some such. You'd probably want to swap the V8 5th gears over, too.
3.27 really isn't enough gear for a V8 T-5. It'll "work" of course; it'll just always feel like you're taking off in 2nd gear.

Re: T5
That's what I just said. You have to change EVERYTHING over to the V8 (the kind with the 2.95 1st) in order to get the 26-spline clutch gear. In a word, put a V8 transmission into the 6-cyl transmission's case.
Which of course won't make 5th have a V8 ratio. In fact it'll get EVEN WORSE. The 6-cyl 5th is something in the .60 kind of range; with the V8 countergear it'll end up closer to .5. Which might be partially acceptable for short uses if it had a 4.56 rear gear. With 3.27s though, you'll have to be doing AT LEAST 90 mph to use it, even on a level stretch.
You don't want a 6-cyl trans. Get rid of it and move on. Look for a V8 one.
