T56 Swap in an 88 GTA

Currently looking at gathering the rest of the parts needed for my t56 swap. Im struggling with trying to find a proper crossmember. One that I was looking at was the "

BMR 3rd Gen F-Body T56 Torque Arm Relo Crossmember"

but it says that you must use the BMR full length torque arm as well. But BMR doesnt make a torque arm for a 9 bolt from what I have seen. Can i use my stock torque arm?

AFAIK they don't have to. There's no difference between the 9-bolt & 10-bolt torque arms.

Don't think so.

interesting. They say specifically it doesn’t work with a 9 bolt.

Per BMR:
NOTE: DOES NOT FIT SOME 9-BOLT REARENDS FOUND IN CERTAIN 3RD GENS WITHOUT TRIMMING MOUNTS ON AXLE

UMI doesn't have any kind of note on their setups FWIW.

So it can fit, it just might take some minor trimming. But I can't see how a mount that fits 10 bolt rear ends wouldn't fit a BW 9 bolt as they are the same factory torque arms.

There might be some sort of "feature" on the 9-bolt pumpkin that their TA doesn't take into account somehow but the factory one does. Sounds kinda like an opportunity for some design improvement.

That is certainly possible. I know on the UMI setup there are two sets of bolt holes. The inner bolt holes that push the adapter further inward towards the driveshaft would never work due to hitting the pinon yoke.

My 9 bolt has the adapter mounted to the bolt holes pushing the adapter furthest from driveshaft.
