Hi everyone and happy New year !
on my z28 of 82, original it was a TH200C, when i buy, old owners put a th700r4 but with no shifter yet.
Can someone have pictures of a th700r4 shifter please ?
Because i have the original shifter and it plug well and i also have a th700 shifter but i can't install it very well.
The holes fix is not good.
Thanks everyone for help TH200C shifter Th700 shifter ?
You don't need to change the shifter. You just need to change the shift indicator bezel.
You also need to use a shifter cable bracket for a 700R-4...
I think I have a 700R-4 shifter somewhere. I may be able to get a picture of it if you really need one, but you probably don't...

I don't understand the th200c IS 3 speed and th700 4 speed + overdrive so i Will miss one position using thé old shifter ?
I have the New shift indicator and there IS thé shifter câble bracket on the gearbox (i will take pictures)
i have a th700 câble.
if you Can i would like the pictures of your shifter
Thanks
The shifter for the th200 has different detents than the th700. If you're swapping the trans you need the cable and the shifter. I think the shifter handle/hardware is also different. There are no provisions for the electronics for a th700 in an 82. At minimum the converter clutch won't lock up, there may be other issues.
a th700 is a better trans because in every way but a th350 is an easier swap. That said there are ways to make the th700 work with standalone controllers.
Won't they loose the ability to shift into 1st gear w only 3 detents? Are they spaced out the same as the 4 speed also?
The shifter has no detents past "D" or "OD" (can't remember). There are detents inside the transmission that the shift lever connects to.
The ONLY way I am wrong is if the '82 shifter is mechanically different from the '83 shifter connected to the same 200C tranny...
I had an 82 years ago and swapped the 200 for a 350. The detents in the shifter didn't line up w what the trans wanted. It was a pain. I wonder if the 83 was different d/t the addition of the 700.

but there's only one way to find out!
Yeah now you have me wondering if '83 & later used the same shifter for both the 200C and the 700R-4. As I mentioned previously, I had to use a cable bracket for a 700R-4. I "should" still have a 700R-4 shifter from a Camaro somewhere. I kept the Firebird shifter because the handle/**** is different for the Camaro and I don't know if it interchanges...
Just checked the parts manual for 1982-1984 Camaro- the shifter assembly is called "Control" - part number for all three years is the same: 10027014
So, in theory the shifter assembly is same for TH200C and TH700R4. The only unique part is the console trim.

I am sorry I don't have enough information regarding this. But I will recommend you to use search engines like Google or Bing and enter "TH700R4 shifter" in the search bar. This should generate various images that can help you visually compare and identify the correct installation. Additionally, automotive forums, especially those focused on Chevy Camaro or classic cars, might have discussions with pictures shared by owners who have installed TH700R4 shifters on their Z28s. These forums are valuable resources for gathering insights and advice from individuals who may have faced similar challenges during transmission upgrades. Whenever I want to search for something, I always prefer to search it on Google search. I am not so good at writing IELTS essay so I was searching for a site online where I can find how to write an essay for IELTS and I found https://academized.com/blog/how-to-w...ssay-for-ielts website link where I found all my answers in brief. That is why I am recommending you to search it on google search.
