My turbo 350 is taking off in 2nd sometimes, also when it takes off in 1rst it skips 2nd and goes to 3rd. They don't slip in any gear and it shifts good. Why is it doing this????

Need help before it ruins the tranny..

 

Will it go through the gears if you do it manually? If not then you are wasting your time. If it is starting in 2nd then you must have allot of metal in there hanging up the VB/Governor.

 

yes you can manually shift it through all the gears. It only does this when you leave it in drive..

 

i have the same problem when manually shifting if i was at the line and i gunned it it would go then shift to 2nd without me doing it thne bounce back down over reving the engine THAT SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!! come to find out the trans cable was slightly out of adjustment that might not be the problem cuse you said it was in drive but if not it might be this

 

modulator or govenor. which one???

 

Probably not the Modulator as that won't give you the 2nd gear start. It is easy enough to look at the Governor byt just popping the cover off and pulling it out. You will also get a better idea what the oil looks like too. I have to suspect that there are contaminants in there. Not optimistic.
