'84 Firebird with a SBC 350 and TH350. Recently got it running and drove it for about a week. Pulled into driveway one day and completely lost forward gear. Car acts like it's in neutral and I don't feel the shift when I put it in drive like I do when I put it in reverse. Reverse gear is strong. Jacked car up and drive gears engage and respond to throttle, but definitely seem weaker than they should. Think the transmission is from 1977 from what I can tell. Any help is greatly appreciated.

 

TH350 is a good transmission. Time for a rebuild?

 

Thats what I'm guessing. Think forward clutch pack is burned out but was hoping for something simple. When I took the pan out, there was a substantial amount of sludge in the bottom. Fluid was previously changed about a month ago, so that worried me.

 

Sounds like the forward clutch is farkled. Probably a lip seal has failed.

Time for a teardown. Being a Turbo 350, that's something you can probably do yourself.
