Transmission Line into radiator cooler has slight drip
Transmission Line into radiator cooler has slight drip
Not sure if this is correct spot (maybe it should be in cooling?) but recently replaced the radiator in my 1987 Trans AM 305 TPI. All went well but the top transmission line weeps a bit. I have checked the fitting, its lined up, and looks non damaged. I don't want to over tighten.
anyone had this issue and how did they resolve? I wrapped a white kleenex around the fitting, drove 30 miles on highway and when I looked at kleenex it had maybe 3 dime size stains so its a small drip but want to make it perfect.
Thanks

If this is a flare fitting, then it's either cracked, misaligned, or loose. Those are the only choices you've got. Assuming that the leeeeeeek is where the flared line hooks into the fitting in the rad.
It's pretty hard to overtighten one of those. Try tightening it first.

Thanks. Yes its a flare fitting...i was worried about overtightening as I heard it could crush some part within the connection...it is tight now so I would have to give it some hard pressure to tighten it more....

Yeah, nothing in there to crush or anything... go ahead and tighten some more, but be sure to hold still the thing it tightens into.

I had a fuel line fitting that leaked worse when I tightened it.
The cause was a burr on the flare fitting...
