Damaged bolt hole on t5 bell housing- seeking advice.

So my bell housing has a shattered bolt hole on the bell housing from the last mechanic sinking an incorrect bolt into it. Just the reinforced part of the hole is broken off, luckily the housing didnt crack, so i drilled it out n popped a helicoil in it of the proper thread but im unsure if this is good enough or if i should spend the money to have it build back up by an aluminum welder n then just re drill it. The closest guy in my area quoted me $125 for the welding which is almost half to cost of a used bellhousing on ebay. Its just a 2.8l so its not like its gonna be under insane torque so im wondering if u guys think the helicoil would be enough or should i bite the bullet n get it welded. For context im very poor n that $125 kinda hurts.

If you don't have 1.5x thread dia. length of engagement (18mm, or rounded up, 11 threads,) in helicoil that's fully in good metal, you should spring for the correct repair.

It looks like the thing has been repaired a few times already. I see a heli-coil in there! As others have said, with a V-6, you should be okay, just no 5,000 RPM clutch dumps on drag radials and things should be fine.

I think that'd be fine, for a V6'er.
