torque converter lockup

How would the switch mess up the transmission and torque converter? Also, would it be a good or bad idea to install that switch and only use it occasionally?

Not a good idea at all for a stock converter. Especially if you have a shift kit in it. (it being the trans obviously)
It'll destroy the damper springs in the converter clutch locking it up in second (it won't lock in first) Doing this will beat the hell out of the converter clutch at every shift. I've seen one out of a stock 4.3 astro van with the springs in a million pieces.
If you get a real good converter it's ok, something like a vigilante from precision industries, Otherwise don't lock it up under load and (in my opinion) below fourth.
