trans still won't go... damn
I just pulled the engine from my camaro and put it in my truck because the trans in the maro was screwed, and I lost oil pressure in the truck. The truck is a "daily driver". Now the trans in the truck won't go- won't do anything. I installed a TCI converter for the 350C, and didn't do anything else to it. it won't even go into gear. I did kind of tweak the vacum modulator when I pulled the old engine, and it pulled the nipple for the hose up and bent the housing a little. Could that cause this? I thought it just would shift. If that can't be it, I guess I'll put the old converter back in, but the engine won't be very happy about that
. I really don't want to pull the trans tonight 'cuz it's going to be in the 20's, and I was outside in that crap last night finishing up the engine. Oh yeah... I need to try and get it on the road tonight 'cuz it's supposed to snow tomorrow and that's the only truck I've got with decent tires.
Well, thanks for the help. You guys are great.

:hail: Did you fill the converter with fluid? Is the trans fluid up to the full mark? It can take a few seconds (especially if you didn't fill the converter) for the fluid to circulate and make it move, you may even have to add more quarts after just the engine runs.
I filled the converter up, and added fluid to the trans after that, 2 quarts, and 1 in converter. I ran it for about 5 minutes and cycled through the gears. I also tried revving the motor some. I don't think the vacum modulater can cause that, and I need the truck to drive. I guess I'll put the old converter back in. The engine idles a little smoother in the truck, so I hope it'll work ok 'til I can get a new converter. Does anybody know if Summit will take something like this back? It's a little too expensive to just let go. It cost me $350. One thought I had is maybe the part that goes into the trans is too short, and isn't engaging in the pump when it pulled up to the flexplate. It's a long shot, but the only thing I can think of. I'll compare the two before I put it back in. Has anybody else ever had this happen before? It was working fine before I took the engine out.
I'll write back and tell if it works in the morning. I can't crank it at night (open headers make cranky neighbors).
