couple of questions about my tranny

The first question is why doesn't my car shift as soon I change gears when I manually shift it? I race at the track a good bit and it kills my consistancy. The tranny has been freshly rebuilt with kavlar bands, corvette servo, trans-go shift kit and what ever else they did to beef it up.

The other question is how can I get it to shift into OD at WOT. I have 3.27 gears and plan on going with 3.70's soon and I already cross the traps at 5000 rpm in 3rd. Any help would be great.

The GM dealer sells a part for the downshift problem.

As for shifting problem you would likely do betrter with a governor that would give you lower WOT shift points, such as a regular V-8 governor compared to an IROC version.

If I get a governor that lowers my shift points then wouldn't that kill my et's at the track. I always manually shift it at 6000 and it will end up shifting at 6500. If I leave it in drive it shifts at 5000 and I make my peak hp/tq at 6250. Am I missing something your trying to tell me? If so, what

I believe he was assuming that you were shifting before the tranny tried to shift on its own. Because the tranny is still an automatic it will not shift before its normal shift points at wide open throttle. From your last post though it sounds like that is not the case.

oops!! sorry I didn't make my self to clear on that. I am shifting at a higher rpm than it normally shifts at. I have seen apart in a summit magazine that says to make an automatic tranny shift like a manual to get this,is this what I need to cure the delayed shift blues? sorry for the confusion

I was told that they did not make those for the 700. Is the one that you found for a 700r4 or did you just see them in general? I know that some kits are supped to give you "increased manual control". I almost said shift kits but I did not want to get a lecture from transfix leo.

I can't even find the part now, I'll look in an older summit mag. Give me a sec.
