My T-5 won’t go in first gear
I recently installed a used T-5 (in my RX-7 with a L98) I’m using it with a Hurst shifter that I purchased. My problem is:
First gear is hard to find. All other gears engage fine. It will go in first only sometimes, and it works fine when it does. I’m trying to figure if the problem is with the shifter or with the transmission? I don’t have the stock shifter, so I cant swap out the shifter without buying another one. Any advice on what I can try or do, to locate the source of my problem? Thanks.

You should be able to take off the shifter and try changing gears with a large screwdriver. I'm not sure if you can do this with the tranny in the car though.
