w-c t-5

what year did the world class t-5 tranny get put in. I am looking to buy a t-5 from a 89 iroc. How can I tell if it is a w-c or not

The input shaft bearing should say timken on it.

Axle/Gears: 12-Bolt 3.73
All 88-92 thirdgens with manual transmissions are World Class T5's. Unless someone else swapped in a non-world class, of course. There's a partial VIN on the passenger side, I think the 2nd digit would be J,K,L,M,or N representing years 88 to 92. Also the front of the trans has a large circle, partially covered by the input shaft cover. Thats what David is referring to. It will say TIMKIN along its circumference.

My non-world class had a Timkin bearing on it too. I purchased a bearing for a 91 WC, and it was exactly the same as the Timkin I took off of the non WC unit.

i have an 89 formula does this mean i have the world class tranny? also if i do what are the spec on it like how much better it then the normal t-5. how much torqe can it handle
