The long tailshaft TH350 (9") is the same length (within a few 1/8's) as the TH700. Your current DS would work.
A "regular" TH350 (6" tailshaft) would need a longer driveshaft, like one from an '82/'83 3-speed auto 3rd gen.
Why do you want to do this? If strip-only, it makes some sense. If your TH700 is sick, rebuilding is expensive but the overdrive is nice for daily driving. If this is a daily driver, try a couple of days with the TH700 in "D" instead of "OD", and see if you like those higher cruising RPMs.

I have 2 cars, one is TH350 and one is 700R4... The Th350 (shiftkit + high stall) is basically my race car... not a highway cruiser / daily driver because of the high rpms needed to cruise above 35 MPH in the TH350... Its Sick getting 3 MPG all the way to miami just to race it...
Now my 700R4, I love in my stock L03 since the car is stock it puts out no serious power and the tranny should last a long time, with stock stall its tight and with lockup the gas mileage just gets better and better... There is alot to say about both trannys, but Plain and simple i think i can sum it up when i say Th350 only on 1 of 2 conditions:
#1: the swap occurs because of necessity i.e. your engine puts out more power than your 700R4 can hold
Or
#2: Overdrive is useless i.e. your cam doesnt make power till 3500 RPMS and you cant get 3500 RPMS in overdrive until you 100 MPH or have like 4.11 gears which makes a bad daily driver to begin with.
DO NOT do the swap because of:
#1: money. Just because the Th350 is cheaper, dont give up the 700R4 you will pay more in GAS money than it would cost you just to get a 700R4...
Also, the 700R4 has a nice 1st gear which most people hate but i love it in stock cars with stock gearing it makes your car feel faster and spin the tires easier in 1st hehehe...
Just my Xperiences...
