how can i tell what the rear gear ratio is in my 1992 305 z-28?

Pull the cover off the back and count the teeth on the pinion and ring gear and then divide them togeather........most ring gears have the tooth count stamped on them....

if u take and write the 3 digit codes down on ur consloe lid u can type it in on this site under something codes and it will tell u everthing u want to know

gear ratios

Look under the hatch on the drivers side and there is a locked compartment.Write the codes down and then go to the vin decoder section. It will tell you the gear ratio and everything else about your car.

The RPO codes can also be found under the console lid.
And the easiest way to check your gears, not perfect but very close. Is do 70mph in D, look at your tach, if it reads 2730rpms then you have 2:73s and so on.
