Fairbanks stall converter

I was wondering how good of quality these are and how streetable they are. I am thinking about buying a used one. Also, you can use 4l60e converters on 700r4s cant you? This is a 3000 rpm stall so I really need to know if it will be streatable before I get it.

Thanks

Ben

What diameter is this torque converter? Is it a lockup? If this a stock 12" diameter, and it is a 3,000 rpm stall, it will feel very slippery. What is the rear end ratio you are using? Depending on what year the TC is will determine if it will fit the 700R4.

I have a 3.45 rear end. I will check on the converter to see what size and year it is, but I am pretty sure it is from an lt1. What about fairbanks as a brand? Are they any good?

Thanks

Probuilt. It was used on a 96 TA. It is a 10" lockup converter.

If it is a 10" TC with lockup, then you might do ok. Do yourself a favor and take out the check ball capsule on the input shaft, make sure you leave the O-Ring on the input shaft.
