i was just wondering what the proper term for my transmission would be in my 82 trans am
i have the 4 speed stick in her..
i know some are called like t-5's and such and was just wondering what mine would be called
reason is that i'm trying to buy a shifter off the net and on the sites they say what are compatable by these terms
if anyone has any insite that would be great

I can tell you that it's NOT a T5 but I can't tell you if it's a Muncie (doubt it), T-10 or Saginaw.

Where is Reverse in the shift pattern?

If it's left and up, you have a Warner T-10 If it's right and down you have a saginaw

My bad... left & down... there are others that are right and down, just not in GMs...

Down = Saginaw. Yuck. There were a very few Warners in 82s but the vast majority of 4-speeds in them are Saginaws.
