Hey guys.. Just getting ready to add a posi unit and 3.73's to my car. This is my question, I have to use my stock axle tube because it is all welded up to my suspension kit.. so I would have to buy another axle, gears, and a posi setup right? In other words ill be gutting the inside of my axle, and put in all new stuff. What products do you guys recommend? and what would I need to do this swap? I know hardly anything about rear ends. I just now I need to switch it all over, where should I Buy from? what are the part #'s? how much should I expect to pay? can you guys give me the low down on rear ends? thanks a bunch!

i like richmond gears, but they tend to make a lot of noise, i'd buy a install kit also, has everything you need. pay someoen to do it if you don't have the tools or don't think you can. it's not hard to do but it's not hard to mess up either.

 

i am actually in the middle of changing my old posi. i bought the auburn high performace series posi. you don't have to buy new axles. you can use the originals, unless there torn up. being how you have an 82 camaro i'm giong to say that you 26 spline axles like myself. all you need is the posi unit, gears and install kit. if you know nothing about rears have it installed by a professional. i called chevy to see how much they would charge to do this for me if i provided all the parts, they $500-$600 as an estimate. make sure that the carrior and the gears you buy are the same series. if you get the one i bought it is a 3 series carrior. if your putting 373s in, make sure they are for a 3 series carrior. i think they make 373s for 2 series carriors. not sure though. mine is for a 10 bolt.

i found someone who is doing it for free for me. this guy is awsome. i also reused the ring gear because mine were 373s and they were in good shape. hope this helps you.
