88 truck tranny in my 92 formula? Questions w/in

The tranny in my formula blew, and right now I don't exactly have the money to fix it. A buddy of mine has a 700R4 out of his 88 chevy fullsize truck. I'm assuming that it will work, with some minor modifications.
The only problem I can foresee is the spedometer. My formula's is electronic, and the truck's is cable drive, I think. Also, the truck might have the wrong drive gear for the spedometer since it is geared higher. Can I just switch the drive gear off the blown tranny and onto the truck tranny, and will the electronic speed sensor fit into the tail of the truck's tranny?
And there aren't any other differences I might have overlooked, are there?
Thanks guys.

Make sure you use your tail section and replace the case to tail section seal, replace the bushing with the new teflon bushing and the rear seal with the late (1993 & up) Corvette 3-lip vamac prelubed seal. Change the necessary speedo parts, that's it. Adjust the TV cable as per transfixleo instructions.

Umm, what's this bushing we're talking about?
And I do have to change the tailhousing, right? Will the output shafts be the same? Like same length and same number of splines?
