Do disk breaks= posi?
NO IROC's in 84, only 85-90.
Might be an IROC clone.
I had heard the same thing about rear disc brakes=posi.
However, some of the folks on here stated this was incorrect and same even had their own vehicles to prove the theory wrong! Check the rear differential cover for tags. They placed the tags on there using the cover bolts. One should say the gear ratio and serial number, the other states "Limited slip differential, use only approved lubricant" or something to that effect.

two things:
1) disk brakes don't make the rear posi, bought 2 disk rears from a bone yard, one was a gov lock, the other was open.
2) i have an 84 iroc. according to the paperwork that came with the car it was a prototype used by car and driver in october of 1984. production date is 8/31/84. anything made 9/01/84 or after was an 85. i think it was a borderline car. the front facia is a post 84 style, with amost flush mounted marker lights, doesn't have a double pointed speedo needle, it's a 115mph speedo. but the title says 1984. i know that it isn't a clone because my grandfather bought it in january of 1985, and he owned it until i bought it on 9/19/00.

115 speedo!? They didn't come out with a 115 until 87 or 88. I know beyond a shadow of a doubt that they didn't have them in 84 or 85.
I also doubt that they had 84 production going on right up until the day before 85 production started. There had to be a period inbetween where the assembly line got converted. I've never heard of an 84 getting 85 parts. This story is fishier than my clam chowder.

Scan those documents and post them. Anything is possible, just not very likely. The dealer could have easily slapped some Iroc decals and stuff on it in 85.
