t5 transmission

I am going to put the zz4 crate engine in my 92 camaro. I am wanting to mate it with the t5 trans that I have. How much will the trans hold up to and if it to be beefed up a little will it stiill break. A guy I talked to today.....said no matter what that the trans would break because that was to much power for it. any help appreciated.

I have a T-5 behind a TPI 350 with some mods, and the tranny has held up well so far. It is only a weekend/when I feel the need car so I don't drive her much. I think if you understand the T-5 wasn't made for that high of toruqe you will be OK. If the tranny fails I won't be suprised and an setting money aside to buy a nice one that will take the toruqe. I think it really depneds on your driving habits.

Your going to do this if you dont be nice to it... my little 305 just destroyed this one lol

sorry for the size...

that was not done on a downshift, i got on it in 3rd gear and did that.....

Anyways, is it atleast a world class? that would help a lot....

Prepare and save for a t56 swap...

Lightweight! I'll have to take some pics of the remains of 3rd gear from my T-5. Also fragged by a 305.

Wow that looks familiar.

That was all done by a very worn out 302 in a Mustang. It didn't take much.

Go easy on the gas and shifts and your tranny will hold up.

But I'd still start saving for a better one anyway.
