How to 700R4 Removal?

I need to drop the tranny to get at the flex plate. Without a professional tranny jack, does anyone have a good method for dropping/installing the tranny? I will be working in my garage and can probably get the car around 12" off the ground at all 4 corners.

Thanks for any help.

Just removed 700r4 trans from an 88 gta this week end, so this is fresh in my mind. You will need a floor jack for sure. I had both a trans jack & floor jack available, but I just used the floor jack. The floor jack goes under the trans oil pan, using a piece of wood between the jack & the pan. Most items are more easily disconnected after you remove the trans mount & let the trans tilt down. Those items are the trans cooler lines, dip stick bracket, & all upper trans to engine bolts. The upper trans to engine bolts are best accessed by using a really long extension & coming in from behind the trans. Before dropping the trans mount, the torque arm needs to be disconnected. This can be done at the trans only, but you need to open the mount to remove the rubber inslulator, not remove the mount. When you remove the torque arm bushing, the torque arm will be only under a little tension providing the rear of the car is up on jack stands, but the rear axle is hanging free. Once the trans is disconnected from the engine, lower the floor jack & remove the torque connvertor. Two guys can then lift the trans off the floor jack, & slide the trans out from under the car.
